Only HiSpec builds The Safety Wheel. In 2004 the Trailer Safety Industry Coalition (TSIC) was formed to respond to "wheel off" concerns that had begun to draw national attention. Brad Richards, founder, and Ron Williams, GM of HiSpec both sat on the TSIC board and helped to direct over $200,000 dollars worth of testing to solve the wheel-off issue. Today, HiSpec has expanded its range to include forged and steel wheels for the heavy truck and class A RV segments, as well as custom engineered and low volume wheels for niche automotive OEMs. HiSpec Wheel has formed alliances with a number of major wheel and tire distributors worldwide and currently has products in China, the Middle East and Europe as well as the US and Canada. These product lines include propriety wheel designs for specific RV manufacturers and automotive OEMs. This specialization has given HiSpec Wheel a special expertise and flexibility to understand and meet the challenges of the ever-changing RV and specialty trailer industries.
Founded in 1995 and centrally located in the Midwest, HiSpec® Wheel and Tire, Inc. manufactures aluminum wheels, accessories, and provides wheel/tire assemblies for the recreational vehicle, marine, cargo and specialty trailer industries.
As a result of the TSIC work, HiSpec re-engineered the trailer wheel and the Safety Wheel was born. HiSpec continues to raise the bar, and the Safety Wheel is among many firsts in the industry since the 12 to 17.5 inch aluminum wheels specifically introduced for specialty trailer and RV applications were first introduced.
